Senior Data Scientist (m/f/d)

Your missionYou turn data into decisions for a pan-European business. As a Senior Data Scientist in our newly established AI UNIT within E.ON Drive Infrastructure (EDRI), a special unit built and run like a startup, you will help transform complex business challenges into data-driven decisions. Working closely with stakeholders across the organization, you will develop analyses, experiments, and models that create measurable business impact and shape the future of AI-driven decision-making at EDRI. You report to our Head of AI Strategy.  Your Responsibilities  Translate business challenges into analyses, predictive models, and actionable recommendationsBuild and validate statistical, machine learning, and optimization models to support strategic decision-makingDesign experiments and measure real business impact, beyond correlation, using rigorous analytical methodologiesCollaborate with AI/ML Engineers to bring analytical models into production environmentsCommunicate insights, assumptions, and uncertainty clearly to stakeholders up to CEO levelEstablish best practices and standards for analytics, experimentation, and model developmentEvaluate emerging AI models, AI tooling, and agentic systems and use what works to accelerate analysis workflowsDrive data-informed decision-making across business functions and regionsShare knowledge and support the development of junior colleagues – this is a senior individual contributor role Your profileYou are a commercially minded Data Scientist who combines strong analytical rigor with the ability to influence business decisions. You enjoy tackling ambiguous problems, turning data into insights, and delivering measurable outcomes.  Must have  Proven experience delivering analyses and models that influenced real business decisionsStrong background in statistics, including hypothesis testing, experimentation, and causal inferenceExcellent programming skills in Python and SQLDeep expertise in at least one area such as forecasting, optimization, causal inference, or Bayesian methodsAbility to communicate complex analytical findings to non-technical audiencesStrong commercial mindset with a focus on business impact and value creationExperience working with machine learning techniques and data-driven decision-making frameworksCurious, pragmatic, and passionate about solving complex problems through data and AI-driven insightsNice to have   Experience taking models into productionHands-on experience with GenAI or LLM-based toolsExperience in energy, mobility, or other asset-heavy industriesWe hire for spikes, not for resumes.
